Fall Lookbook: The “Autumn Office”

A home office is an essential space if you run your own business or work from home! Create a functional and autumn-themed office with part 4 of the Fall Lookbook Series: The Autmn Office!

A quick note: This year, I decided to compile our favorite fall looks, from decor to furniture and more! I’ve separated this blog into 4 Fall-themed spaces, the Crisp Kitchen, the Austere Bathroom, the Luxe Bedroom, and the Autumn Office. I’ll be adding in my favorite products from places like West Elm, Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, Williams Sonoma, and more to each section! Did you miss something you loved in a section? Simply add your email to the form at the bottom of this blog and I will email you a free list of all the products I love and their links! Let’s get started!

An Autmn Themed Office

The “Autumn Office”

  1. West Elm’s Bryce Office Collection. A functional office needs a great desk with ample storage and plenty of surface area to perform a wide variety of tasks. This walnut desk is perfect for the mid-century modern lover and those who are into the “wood slat/paneling” trend. This collection also includes a matching bookcase.

2. West Elm’s Ryder Swivel. Available in a wide variety of leathers and fabrics, this swivel chair gives an “executive” vibe while delivering comfort and function.

3. PB’s Colossal Handknit Throw. As the winter approaches and the days cool down, you might find yourself working from home more often! I personally love to create a cozy and relaxed environment in my office and that includes a pillow and throw blanket for my office chair. This particular throw blanket is full of texture and available in a wide array of colors!

4. PB’s Jake Daybed. My office is generally multipurpose and when it’s not being used as an office, it’s being used a guest bedroom and craft area. For this reason, I included a daybed in my office that doubles as a seating area when it’s not being used as a bed. I decorate it and arrange it just as I do a sofa: a couple of over-sized pillows as “cushions”, some decorative pillows, and a throw blanket. If your office has the ability to accommodate a daybed, I highly recommend it. It can also double as a little reading nook!

5. Visual Comfort’s Antoine Large Table Lamp. Lighting is incredibly important in an office. You’ll need to consider how you want to control the natural light, if any, with window treatments and minimize glare. I do not like to use the “overhead” lighting or the main, bright ceiling light I have in my office. I prefer to turn on 2 - 3 smaller task lights that give me a good amount of ambient lighting. They use warm-toned lamps and help me to maintain the calm, relaxed aesthetic that I like in my office. There are a million and one options for lighting so, take your time and consider all of the above factors when deciding.

6. West Elm’s Bryce Office Collection. As mentioned, the desk that I included at the beginning has a matching storage bookcase. While I don’t always recommend matching furniture sets, the Bryce Office Collection only includes two furniture pieces, and the walnut grain is unique to each piece. I need a lot of office storage in my line of work. Between samples, presentations, industry books and manuals, and color tools, I need a place to hide these items away and maintain the organization in my office. This office collection by West Elm does a great job at keeping everything in it’s place.

7. PB’s Stowe Metal Frames. Most people that have an office space, whether at home or in a brick-and-mortar location, have at least one picture of their family, friends, pets or something/someone they love. While I personally enjoy a minimalist aesthetic in my office, I have one picture of my family that sits right beside my monitor. It’s a reminder of why I do what I do everyday. If you’re like me, you also want a picture frame that matches the decor of the rest of the space. These picture frames can be hung on a wall or sat at desk or side table and come in 3 gorgeous metals.

8. Crate & Barrel’s Delancey Leather Chair. If your office can’t fit a daybed or sofa, an accent chair might be the perfect fit! After a couple hours sitting at my desk, I sometimes like a “change if scenery”. That can mean working at the dining room table or moving to the daybed and working from there. If you have a smaller office but, need another seating arrangement, besides your office chair, this leather chair might be exactly what you need!
